Let’s Explore Space Together!
Welcome to our fun space adventure! Today, we’re going to learn about planets, build spaceships, and create our very own galaxy. Let’s get started!

Activity 1
Activity 1: Build a Spaceship and Helmet
Become an astronaut by building your own spaceship and helmet!
Materials Needed
- Cardboard boxes (big enough to sit in for the spaceship)
- Smaller cardboard boxes or bowls (for the helmet)
- Aluminum foil
- Safety scissors
- Glue or tape
- Markers or crayons
- Construction paper
- Stickers (stars, planets, or any you like)
- Anything else for decoration (glitter, buttons, etc.)
Instructions
- Build Your Spaceship
- Find a big cardboard box that you can sit in.
- Use markers or crayons to draw windows, buttons, and lights on the outside.
- Decorate with construction paper, stickers, and aluminum foil to make it look like a real spaceship!
- Create Your Space Helmet
- Use a smaller box or a large bowl as the helmet.
- Cover it with aluminum foil.
- Decorate it with stickers and draw on it with markers.
- Make sure it fits on your head comfortably!
- Blast Off!
- Put on your helmet.
- Climb into your spaceship.
- Count down from 10 and pretend to blast off into space!
Activity 2: Draw the Planets – Coloring Fun
Let’s learn about the planets by coloring them!
Materials Needed
- Printable planet coloring pages or plain drawing paper
- Crayons, colored pencils, or markers
- Reference images of planets (optional)
Instructions
- Color the Planets
- If you have printable coloring pages, color each planet.
- If you’re using plain paper, try drawing the planets yourself!
- Use different colors for each planet. For example, Mars is red, and Neptune is blue.
- Learn Their Names
- As you color, say the name of each planet.
- Try to remember them in order from the Sun: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.
- Show Off Your Artwork
- Hang your planet pictures on the wall or fridge.
- Teach your family and friends about the planets!

Let’s Be Engineers: Build Your Own Space Helmet and Rocket!
Hello, young explorers! Today, we’re going to be engineers and create our very own space helmets and rockets. Are you ready to blast off into fun?
What Do Engineers Do?
Engineers are people who design and build things to solve problems and make the world better. They follow special steps called the Engineering Design Process. Let’s use these steps to make our space helmets and rockets!
Engineering Design Process for Kids
- Ask: What do we want to make?
- Imagine: What will it look like?
- Plan: What do we need?
- Create: Let’s build it!
- Improve: How can we make it even better?
Now let’s build our own bionic hand out of cardboard!
Step 1: Ask
- What would you like to make?
- A shiny space helmet to wear?
- A cool cardboard rocket to play in?
- A colorful rocket picture to hang up?
- You can choose one or make all three!
Step 2: Imagine
- Think about your creations:
- Colors: What colors will you use?
- Shapes: What shapes will you include?
- Decorations: Will you add stars, planets, or your name?
- Special Features: Does your helmet have antennas? Does your rocket have fins?
Step 3: Plan
- For All Projects:
- Construction paper
- Markers or crayons
- Glue or tape
- Stickers or decorations
- Safety scissors (with adult help)
Step 4: Create
Option 1: Make Your Space Helmet
- Prepare the Helmet
- With an adult’s help, cut a hole for your head at the bottom of the box or bag.
- Cut out a front window to see through.
- Decorate
- Cover the helmet with aluminum foil for a shiny look.
- Draw buttons, lights, or your name with markers.
- Add stickers, paper shapes, or other decorations.
Option 2: Build Your Cardboard Rocket
Assemble the Rocket
- Stack boxes to make the rocket’s body.
- Attach a cone-shaped top using construction paper.
- Add fins by cutting out triangles and attaching them to the sides.
- Decorate
- Draw windows, doors, and control panels.
- Use aluminum foil for shiny parts.
- Add stickers or draw stars and planets.
Option 3: Create a Rocket Picture
Step 5: Improve
- Try It Out
- Helmet: Put it on. Does it fit? Can you see?
- Rocket: Does it stand up? Is it sturdy?
- Picture: Do you want to add more details?
Make Adjustments
- Add more decorations or colors.
- Fix any parts that need extra tape or glue.
- Ask for ideas from a friend or family member.
